I got the cable, hooked the hard drive to the laptop.

The drive shows up under "My Computer", but upon attempting to access, a message says, "The drive is not formatted", and asks me if I want to format. I definitely don't, but is there a way to get the data?

Is your laptop using the same file system and the desktop? (fat32 vs NTFS)
