Differnt file transfer problem

Recently I have been having slow transfer problems, and internet speed at my dorm. Normally I could get a file from my roommate in seconds (episode of anime to be exact) well now all of a sudden the file transfer through AIM is at 13-15Kbs, and on MSN messenger it won't even send.. I have swept my computer for everything, and tried checking to see if it was my D-Link router... can someone help me with this problem??
