Welcome to GTG.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Please download VundoFix.exe at http://www.atribune....ds/VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

* Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files.
* After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key (or F5 in some machines) until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
* Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
* Please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtqo.dll

* Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
* When asked for a second path, enter -> C:\WINDOWS\system32\oqtwa.*
* Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
* The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
* In HijackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {827DC836-DD9F-4A68-A602-5812EB50A834} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtqo.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: awtqo - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtqo.dll

* After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
* Pressing any key will cause a 'Blue Screen of Death' this is normal, do not worry!
* Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.

Download and install CleanUp! http://www.greyknigh...spy/CleanUp.exe

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click 'Options...'
Move the arrow down to 'Custom CleanUp!'
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

* Empty Recycle Bins
* Delete Cookies
* Delete Prefetch files
* Cleanup! All Users

Click OK. Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.
It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run an online virus scan at ActiveScan http://www.pandasoft.../activescan.htm

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HijackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

After using the vundo fix, hijackthis started and I ran a scan and I did not see
"O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {827DC836-DD9F-4A68-A602-5812EB50A834} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtqo.dll" in the list.

I saw a variation of "O20 - Winlogon Notify: awtqo - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtqo.dl" that appeared as:

O20 - Winlogon Notify: awtqo - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtqo.dll (file missing)

I checked the box to fix the path that said file missing at the end. I ran the clean up and had no problems and I then ran CWshredder and it did not show the problem that it would previously not delete.

I went to the Panda website and when i tried to scan "my computer" it always got stuck at "38 Files scanned ...les\SpywareGuard\dlprotect.dll"

So I ran a scan on drive C (my only drive) and it came up clean, I didnt see anything to post for results it just showed all zeros for any threats.

Below is a copy of the hi jackthis thread after i checked the fix problem box on the "winlogon... filemissing" It is followed by the vundofix log.

When the winfixer was on my comp it would not go into standby and now it does so I suspect it is fixed? Thanks for all your help!

Well as long as I'm here I have been having problems with my internet connection. While surfing the interenet it will lag when I click on a link almost every other time. I click a link, and it sits there for 10- 15 seconds and then it will connect it also lags opening pages on and off.

I am connected via an internal wireless card to a Belkin 54G 128 WEP connection @ an actual 2MBPs.I am usually the only one using the connection I have messed with all of the settings tried all of the channels restarted it and reentered everything over again.

When I look at the system log it appears that my computer is constantly logging on and off which is probably the cause of the lag? But what would cause it to log on and off all the time?

Could the cause be all of the, what looks like, attacks in the router firewall log?. When I look at the security log it looks as if my router is constantly being attacked. Here is a copy of the router's logs:

What do you think is happening?

Thanks Again! GTG RULES!

Not sure, but it does look like something is accessing (or trying to access) your router there. For ZoneAlarm, did you set the security settings all to High?

I suggest asking this question in the Networking Forum instead. They should be able to better assist you there.

Any other questions before I close this topic?

Everything is working fine now. After winfixer was removed I restored my router to factory defaults and reentered all the info and now its working perfectly. Possibly it was related to winfixer messing things up. Thanks again for all your help.
