Ok Geeks to Go, your turn to look at the hijack file. We have a Dell Computer at home that has gotten progressively slower. At times I can click on a program to open it, and have to walk away waiting for it to open. Same with typing, click a few characters and walk away waiting for them to appear. I have done the following on my own and the computer “seems” quite a bit better. It is quicker and not quite as buggy.

1. Updated Norton System Works Subscription – ran every darn Norton test, cleaning, scan in the program.
2. Ran and updated Adware – note it would not load the newest update right away and I found instructions on your website that helped.
3. Next – CWShredder
4. Then Spybot Search and Destroy.
5. Then I used Housecall for a virus scan even though I had the latest Norton update. I was really glad that I did. Housecall found the worm Bereb.b and PEHANTANER.A (not sure if I got spelling correct.)
6. All Service Packs from Microsoft are up to date.

Following is my current Log, and in advance, thanks for taking a peek at it.

That looks as clean as a whistle. :tazz:

Have you cleaned out your temp. files? Run defrag? Gotten rid of programs that you don't use in the add/remove section? Copied music and photos to CDs? Really can't think of anything else.

Thanks for taking a peek at the file. I think it is clean because I spent a lot of time following the instructions on this board. Our next step is to get rid of programs we are not using. There are quite a few of them.

Once again, thanks for all the time and effort you put into this site. It is really helpful. ;)

If you're still not happy with how it's running, you can try this program to rule it out.

Download the latest version of Ad-Aware from here (if you already have Ad-Aware installed, make sure that it is the latest version and always go online and update it before you run it).

Download Lavasoft's VX2 Cleaner plug-in here
http://www.lavasoftu...x2cleaner.shtml

How to use Lavasoft's VX2 Cleaner plug-in

- Close Ad-Aware 6 and Ad-Watch (if running)
- Download the free VX2 Cleaner at http://updates.ls-se...lvx2cleaner.exe
- Install the VX2 Cleaner
- Start Ad-Aware 6
- Go to "Plug-ins"
- Select the VX2 Cleaner plug-in and click "Run Plugin"
- If your computer isn't infected, click "Close".

If your computer is infected

- Select "Clean system"
- Reboot your computer
- Scan your computer with Ad-Aware
- Remove any VX2 objects detected
- Reboot your computer again
- Run a second scan to make sure the files have been removed from your computer

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. :tazz:

Honestly, I think the computer is about 100% better. Norton shows me as missing a apitrapp.dll and it appears to be their own so I will reinstall and see if i can fix that.

I need to get rid of unnecessary stuff that is loading every time. Hijackthis online offers the following suggestions when I past my hijack file there. I will research and try each one.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\nvsvc32.exe Safe.Safe. running process. (nvsvc32.exe)NVIDIA graphics card driver Not dangerous, but unnecessary.

C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe Safe.running process. (iTunesHelper.exe)Not dangerous, but unnecessary.

The VX2 Cleaner came back clean so that was fine. Following is the latest Hijackthis text. Once again thanks for the help, it has made a big difference.
