Every time I try to use the search function the screen says "not responding". The search function is not working at all. Help!

I'm a bit computer illiterate - sorry. It's the search program that you get when you click on "start" and the "search". It's coming up when I try to search hard drive c, my documents, etc.

A possible solution:

If you're comfortable with regedit use it and see if you can find the following entry:

(goto Start > Run type in Regedit - click the + next to each entry until you get to Explorer then click on the file not the +)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoFind

If "NoFind" has the value "01 00 00 00" change it to "00 00 00 00" You will need to restart .

DO NOT ALTER ANYTHING ELSE.
