I am having a problem with lagging while I am gaming. It pings out in a game for about 30 seconds once every 10 minutes sometimes it wont even come back. My internet connection will lose and everything will disconnect.

I have cable internet. When I game I have a team speak server up and running and about 2 people in that server. When I game I go into servers. I dont have a game server, I only run a team speak server. I play Call Of Duty UO. When gaming all I have on is AVG free edition and I have service pack 2 with there firewall enable.

Click on my name for my computer specs.

I also have a Linksys wireless-G 2.4ghz Broadband router. But I have it hookup with a wire along with my other computer with a wire too. I have no wireless computers on the internet. I have that router b/c I am going to get a lap top soon and use it wireless.

In my network connections, I have
Internet Gateway w/ Internet connection enable.
Also in there, I have
Lan or High-Speed Internet w/ Local Area Connection Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller enable.
There is a
1394 Connection 1394 Net Adapter disable
and a
1394 Connection 2 1394 Net Adapter #2 disable. I have no option to delete those.

I never had this lag problem before. I have had it for about 2 months already. I dont remember anything I could of put in that can make me lag. This problem just came all of a sudden. Cable guy came out and said my internet connections look good.

I have no spyware b/c I went through the whole process to check my computer is all clean and it is clean.

If someone can help me out that would be great.

By thinking your computer is clean, do you mean you did all the self help tools in the Malware Forum, or did you actually post a HJT log and have a malware specialist look at it? Many people think their computers are fine when in fact there are things still going on in the background.

Hello o|-| c|-|uTe and welcome to Geeks To Go, :tazz:

There are three very common problems that cause your game to Lag:

1) Your PC or Network
2) The Server Your Gaming From
3) Your ISP

What we need to do is determine which of the three is causing your lagginess (I am a Gamer also and I hate Lag, so I can feel your Pain) Follow these Steps to determine which of the three are the cause and then we will work from there:

FOLLOW THESE STEPS WITH YOUR CURRENT CONFIGURATION:

1. Click on your Web Browser
2. In the address bar type in 192.168.1.1 and enter "admin" as the password if you haven't changed it
3. Click on STATUS Link
4. Write down your <DEFAULT GATEWAY>
5. Close out the browser
6. Click on START
7. Click on RUN
8. Type in CMD or COMMAND depending on your OS
9. Type in.... ping <DEFAULT GATEWAY> -L 1000 -N 100 ......REMOVE <DEFAULT GATEWAY> and put in what i had you write down - remove the <>....
10. When the test is done copy the results into a reply. labelled <TEST 1>

FOLLOW THESE STEPS WITH YOUR CURRENT CONFIGURATION AND WITH THE GAME UP AND RUNNING IN MULTIPLAYER:
1. Click on START
2. Click on RUN
3. Type in CMD or COMMAND depending on your OS
4. Type in..... NETSTAT -R ....When the test is done copy the results into a reply. labelled <TEST 2>
5. Type in..... NETSTAT -S .....When the test is done copy the results into a reply. labelled <TEST 3>
6. Type in..... NETSTAT -E .....When the test is done copy the results into a reply. labelled <TEST 4>
7. Type in..... NETSTAT -A .....When the test is done copy the results into a reply. labelled <TEST 5>

FOLLOW THESE STEPS WITH THE PC CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO THE MODEM:
1. Click on START
2. Click on RUN
3. Type in CMD or COMMAND depending on your OS
4. Type in..... ipconfig .......and copy down your default gateway again
5. type in .... ping <DEFAULT GATEWAY> -L 1000 -N 100 ......REMOVE <DEFAULT GATEWAY> and put in what i had you write down - remove the <>....
6. When the test is done copy the results into a reply. labelled
<TEST 6>

FOLLOW THESE STEPS WITH THE PC CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO THE MODEM AND WITH THE GAME UP AND RUNNING IN MULTIPLAYER:
1. Click on START
2. Click on RUN
3. Type in CMD or COMMAND depending on your OS
4. Type in..... NETSTAT -R ....When the test is done copy the results into a reply. labelled <TEST 7>
5. Type in..... NETSTAT -S .....When the test is done copy the results into a reply. labelled <TEST 8>
6. Type in..... NETSTAT -E .....When the test is done copy the results into a reply. labelled <TEST 9>
7. Type in..... NETSTAT -A .....When the test is done copy the results into a reply. labelled <TEST 10>

PLEASE FOLLOW THESE STEPS AND REPLY WITH YOUR COPIED RESULTS SO WE CAN EFFECTIVLEY AND ACCURATLY TROUBLESHOOT YOUR PROBLEM.

Welcome back o|-| c|-|uTe,

The cable guy told you wrong... your problem lies in the connection between your cable modem and your default gateway (which happens to be were the Cable Modem Termination System ends). How do We know this you might ask:

Read these results I have posted back to you carefully:

You are not dropping packets per say, but your packets are timing out due to Noise. Noise is caused by bad cable, cable connectors, and to many splitters. (read my profile to see how I know this). You need to call the cable guy back out and have him check your upstream transmits / block error rates, and downstream bit error rates. You are having the exact same problem with or wothout your router attached, connected to or not connected to your game server.

A word of advice when dealing with cable guys and the cable company and the quality of your service... there is a time to be polite and nice and there is a time to raise [bleep].... if your problem isnt fixed then it is time to raise [bleep]... that will get you the best technician sent out i assure you...
