Hello,
i read you from italy. Very far, but you're really the best in computer security, so i post a topic there (sorry for my english). Please help me if you can.

Yesterday norton detect a trojan.vundo on my pc. Impossible to delete it, with vundofix. After my adsl usb modem doesn't functions and adsl connection was deleted (not by me). So i cannot try to delete it with antivurus online.

I've another pc, and they communicate by usb key. When i put the key in the safe pc, norton detect vundo, but delete it. How is it possible?

anyway, i read all your topics and i do a scan with Hijack. This is the complete logfile.

many thanks for your help... hope to do the same for you.

Welcome to GTG.

You can't go online? We need you to do an online scan, so see if this will fix your problem:

Download WinsockFix http://www.greyknigh.../WinsockFix.zip and unzip it. Then double click on WinsockFix.exe to run it.

Can you go online now? Do the below now...

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Please download VundoFix.exe at http://www.atribune....ds/VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

* Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files.
* After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key (or F5 in some machines) until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
* Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
* Please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):

C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\ddcyy.dll

* Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
* When asked for a second path, enter -> C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\yycdd.*
* Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
* The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
* In HijackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00DBDAC8-4691-4797-8E6A-7C6AB89BC441} - C:\WINNT\system32\ddcyy.dll
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [svcdatabase.exe] svcdatabase.exe
O20 - Winlogon Notify: ddcyy - C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\ddcyy.dll
O23 - Service: msnet32 - Unknown owner - C:\WINNT\msnet32.exe
O23 - Service: MS Smc Service (MSsmc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINNT\winsmc.exe

Delete these if found:

svcdatabase.exe - search for it
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\ddcyy.dll
C:\WINNT\msnet32.exe
C:\WINNT\winsmc.exe

* After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
* Pressing any key will cause a 'Blue Screen of Death' this is normal, do not worry!
* Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.

Download and install CleanUp! http://www.greyknigh...spy/CleanUp.exe

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click 'Options...'
Move the arrow down to 'Custom CleanUp!'
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

* Empty Recycle Bins
* Delete Cookies
* Delete Prefetch files
* Cleanup! All Users

Click OK. Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.
It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run an online virus scan at ActiveScan http://www.pandasoft.../activescan.htm

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HijackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

Please do not post duplicate topics. I see one of the Moderators closed one for you.

Does WinsockFix fix the internet problem? Try reinstalling your ISP software then.

Continue with the fixes. Ignore the (file missing) entry...just fix it anyway because the file is deleted that's why it says that.

Please give me the logs I asked for. I need to take a look at them again to make sure nothing bad is still there.

Are you using dialup or fast internet connection (DSL/cable)? Reinstall the internet software and not the ones for the modem. Did you run WinsockFix yet? If that still won't work then get Ewido from another computer and burn it on a CD to install on this computer (see below):

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Please download Ewido Security Suite at http://www.ewido.net/en/download/.

1. Install Ewido Security Suite.
2. When installing, under 'Additional Options' uncheck:
* Install background guard
* Install scan via context menu
3. Launch Ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double click it.
4. The program will now open to the main screen.
5. When you run Ewido for the first time, you will get a warning 'Database could not be found!'. Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
6. You will need to update Ewido to the latest definition files.
* On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
* Then click on Start Update.
7. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. The status bar at the bottom will display 'Update successful'.
8. Exit Ewido. DO NOT scan yet.

If you are having problems with the updater, you can go to http://www.ewido.net...wnload/updates/ to update manually.

Download CleanUp! http://cleanup.stevengould.org/ (Alternate Link if main link don't work - http://www.greyknigh...spy/CleanUp.exe ) and install it. Don't run it yet.

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.

CleanUp! deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups. If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp!. Run CleanUp! and click on the Options button. Uncheck 'Scan local drives for temporary files'. Also uncheck those two Newsgroup entries if you don't want to delete them. Click OK and then click on the CleanUp! button. Let it run. After it's done, choose Yes to logoff.

Now open Ewido and do a scan on your system.

* Click on scanner
* Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
* NOTE: During some scans with Ewido it is finding cases of false positives.
o You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
o If Ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
o Do NOT select 'Perform action on all infections'
o If you are unsure of any entry found, select none for now as the action.
* Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
* Click Save report.
* Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.

Restart your computer. Post the logs for HijackThis and Ewido.

It's from Telecom Italia. If you don't recognize it, fix them in HijackThis also.

Download KillBox http://www.greyknigh...spy/KillBox.exe. Run KillBox and check the box that says 'End Explorer Shell While Killing File'. Next click on 'Delete on Reboot'. Copy the below files and go back to KillBox. Go to File->Paste from Clipboard and then hit the button with a red circle and white X. Confirm to delete and when asked if you want to reboot, say Yes:

C:\WINNT\winsmc.exe

If you get a PendingOperations message, just close it and restart your computer manually.

Boot into Safe Mode and run Ewido scan. Save the report.

Restart to go back to normal mode and post the Ewido log here along with a new HijackThis log.

OK, just saw something there (hopefully not a big problem). I will ask you to run a few more scans just to make sure it's all gone.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to Start->Run and type in notepad and hit OK. Then copy and paste the following into Notepad:

sc stop MSsmc
sc delete MSsmc
del delete.bat

Save the file as "delete.bat". Make sure to save it with the quotes. Double click on it.

Please download the following programs, but do not run them yet:

rdrivRem.zip - http://www.geekstogo...pe=post&id=1778
* Unzip it to your desktop.

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.

Please double click rdrivRem.bat to run the program - follow the instructions on the screen. After it's complete, rdriv.txt will be created in the rdrivRem folder.

Scan with Ewido again and save the report.

Restart your computer.

Run BOTH of these online virus scans (NOT at the same time!):
ActiveScan - http://www.pandasoft.../activescan.htm
TrendMicro 's Housecall (http://uk.trendmicro...call_launch.php) - check 'Auto Clean'

Save the results from Panda ActiveScan.

I need you to post the contents of rdriv.txt, the log from Ewido, the log from ActiveScan, and a new HijackThis log into this topic.
