First post. First real issue. Can't find exact issue in search, and can't stand the hold time or understand Dell's CS.
All of a sudden my DVD+RW drive will not recognize a blank DVD. I have written to this drive successfully many times. It will still play a DVD, write to a CD-R, but when a DVD-R blank is inserted it doesn't recognize the disc. I am using the same brand DVD-R discs I used in the past. Even tried a different brand with no luck. It is a TEAC brand drive. Driver update says I have the best driver, all evidence I can find in Device Manager says that the drive is functioning normally. All System Configuration Utilities services and start ups are enabled. In services (local), I find IMAPI CD-Burning COM service is started, but I don't see a DVD-Burning COM. Should there be one? What am I missing?
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help me solve this one!

Have you looked for a firmware update, though make sure it is correct as they cannot be undone
