After perusing the forum and realizing that each case is very unique, and that it probably isn't the greatest idea to post my own log in someone elses thread, I am now making my own. Apologies for the mass amounts of Winfixer 2005 threads. I run Windows XP SP2.

Also, I'm wondering if this is related to Winfixer 2005, but my system no longer hibernates. I checked Wake on LAN settings in BIOS, and that did not make any difference. Everytime I send my computer into hibernation, it starts to turn off the computer, and as it is finishes, it immediately reboots into the hibernated state from which I just sent it into. The only way I've found to actually hibernate the machine is to press hibernate, and as it is beginning to restart, press the power on the actual tower before it can return from hibernation. System restore, too, does not work. I tried to system restore to a date where I did not have Winfixer, and that too is failing. Even safe mode was giving me some issues... Hello,
I am having difficulty booting into safe mode. I can get as far as picking which user I want to load safe mode into, and then it quickly flashes a message about system diagnostics and leaves me with an all black screen with the words "safe mode" in the corners. I allowed it sufficient time to load, and this much is not working. I can, however, run safe mode with command prompt, that is, have the command prompt run but the actual background still remains a solid black screen with the safe mode logos in the corner.

OK, I want you to try something while in that black screen. Hit ctrl+alt+del and see if you can bring up the task manager. If so, go to File->New Task and type in explorer.exe and hit OK. Does that bring back the desktop? If so, continue on...

Hey,
I actually just ran the entire process through command prompt. It was interesting, the command prompt turned blue once i loaded the batch file. I did, however, try ctrl alt del and I did get the task manager, but I didn't think to load explorer. I did, however, sucessfully use vundofix. Any idea as to why thats happening? And any thoughts on the hibernation and system restore problem (as described in original post)? And here is the information as requested:

Something must have interrupted or terminated explorer when it went to safe mode. But no problem running through the command prompt if you know how to

Well, that fixed EVERYTHING. Windows now system restores properly, safe mode now actually boots properly, the winfixer popup is gone, and hibernation actually hibernates. Thank you SOO much.

If I weren't 15 years old and I had my own paypal account, or even my own checking account, I would donate to you for your services. Sadly, my parents are computer-illiterate (the reason that I have to work on this stuff), thus they dont have a paypal account either.
