OK. When I open up my yahoo email, I see the photo down below, but it's very small. I don't have to open a photo software program. I just see it. Do you see that, or is there a paper clip you have to click on?

hi coach, YEP I see the photo as well and small too! That is what I call a thumbnail.
My system is set, that when an attachment is JPG ( indicated with paperclip), it is opened with a photo program. That is not the problem. However I used to be able to see the pictures as ONE or better said.....totally opened.

If I wanted to save it, I could do so and THEN open with photo program, but NOW to open the JPG file, I have to use the program right away.

Any ideas?
Thanks, B

OK. Now I understand. Wasn't trying to be so dense. Obviously, and I'm sure you figured this out already that when you upgraded it changed your configurations. It should probably be one easy check on a box, but I need to figure out what box. :tazz:

What photo program are you using? I think that there is a place somewhere that says, use this program to open photos each time.

You may be able to get it done by going into IE>>tools>>internet options>>reset to original default settings.

I may ask gerryf to look at this. This is more up his alley. Let me know if those two work. If not, I'll get gerry over here,

Hey Coach, .....no sweat :) ......no dense_offence taken :tazz:

It very well maybe...that I did not explain it correctly.
Let me shed some light on the first scenario.....

Pling pling...email comes in.....with JPG file. Yippeee :)
I used to open my email and VIOLA, there was the picture to be seen as total picture. I could watch, download and save if necessary.
When downloaded and saved, THEN comes the ACDSEE 7.0 to open this file.
Still no problem......you still with me?? ;)

The NOW scenario is the following.....
Pling.....pling... email comes in with JPG file. Nice! Photo shows up as thumbnail :)
Now If I want to view this picture, it will ask me to VIEW or SAVE to computer or SAVE to Yahoo pictures.
Now the VIEW option was the DOWNLOAD option before. Meaning download if this was necessary. Only when I chose to OPEN the downloaded JPG, the ACDSEE woke up/ ie. was started. Since the JPG files come in as thumbnails now, I need to VIEW these first to determine if I want to SAVE this or do as I please.
ACDSEE is checked so that JPG's are opened with this program.

Basically what I am asking is....
Can I see the JPG's as a whole on ONE page in Yahoo? Is this a Yahoo or IE thing where my settings are *changed*??? ;) :) :)

Upgrading my MS with SP2, did not make any difference. Also I did NOT change anything in my IE tools, so as far as I can see, I still have the default settings.

I would appreciate if you or Gerryf can offer some help.
Thanks a bunch, B

Wee! Gerry is going to enjoy this explanation. :tazz: I'm calling in the cavalary. I think I'll stay over in the malware section from now on. I know I could fix this on my computer, but .....it would take some playing around with it.

Hi,

First, I am not 100 percent certain this is a problem...it may be that Yahoo has simply changed the way they do things since viewing inline images is inherently a bad idea.

It would help if I had a yahoo email account....:tazz:

Let's try something first

go to the following webpage :

http://www.dougknox..../file_assoc.htm

download the following script and run it
JPE/JPG/JPEG Association Fix (Restore .....)

hi coach, hi gerryf, <=== thanks for joining:)

My guess is similar, so I emailed Yahoo to find out if they come up with something.
Will keep you both posted. Thanks for your effort and advise.....B :tazz:

Hi gerryf, coach and possibly CHUCK,

LOW AND BEHOLD

As mentioned before I emailed Yahoo! and please find below their response:

;) We'd like you to know that we recently made some changes to how
attachment images are displayed. In an effort to provide a new
streamlined interface, image attachments are now displayed as
thumbnails. To enlarge the image, simply click on the image thumbnail.
Alternatively, if you want to save the photo to your computer or to
Yahoo! Photos, you can click on the "Save to Computer" and "Save to
Yahoo! Photos" links. Unfortunately, at this time it is not possible to
revert back to the old Yahoo! Mail page. We are always collecting
feedback to pass on to our production staff. Your comments have been
noted for consideration during our next round of enhancements.

Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Customer Care. ;)

So, I guess our * problem* is solved and our guess was correct.

Gerryf, for the record, I like to know what this Dougknox does with the JPE/JPG/JPEG Association Fix (Restore .....)
Is it simply to restore settings if they possibly were changed due to whatever?

Your effort is very appreciated. :tazz:
Thanks to you both, B

Yes, that is all those files do....

You can actually open these files in notepad---they are just text files with a REG extension.

What Doug did was take all the settings that affect jpegs and create a file that can be used to reset the OS to the defaults

the file looks like :

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpe]
"PerceivedType"="image"
@="jpegfile"
"Content Type"="image/jpeg"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpe\OpenWithProgids]

Hi gerryf,

Special thanks to you and Coachwife.
As posted before, it seems that Yahoo! changed something in their settings, something I was not aware off.

All other files involving JPG etc, are working fine!
Thanks again for your help! :tazz: ;)

Best of luck, B
