My computer was acting really weird so I did some research.

I've reviewed forums and other websites to solve the problem. I've done windows updates, norton updates, etc. I've been able to remove some trojans on my computer but not the main virus.

Norton says I have a virus referring to the name "bloodhound.w32.ep". I've found info on that which say it is also called "W95.CIH" I'm not sure how accurate that is. The actual file name bloodhound is creating is saintag.exe. Found in C:windows\system32\saintag.exe
I've located the file but cannot delete it.
And now Norton is acting funny.

Ad-Aware SE says I have a virus named "BackDoor.Agent.BA". The file for that virus on my computer is sqll.dll. Found in C:\windows\system32\sqll.dll

Plus I have two more files that may be linked to the last virus. The file names are httpfilter.dll and httpfilter2.dll - found in C:\windows\httpfilter.dll
I have found info stating this is part of a virus, though i'm not sure which one. I am unable to delete it as well.

I've tried different anti-virus programs but they've yet to remove these last files.

After many hours of searching i'm still at a loss. I've seen people on the forum use HijackThis but I don't know how or where to find it.
Any suggestions would be great. :tazz:

Hi mewho

Wellcome to geekstogo ;)

Please run a free online virus scan here http://housecall.antivirus.com/ (tick the "Auto Clean" checkbox):

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

Thank You

kc :tazz:

First follow instructions here;
http://securityrespo...moval.tool.html

Download and run About:Buster http://www.majorgeek...wnload4289.html
It ususally takes two runs to get cleaned.

Download CWShredder from http://www.intermute...r_download.html
Use the Fix button.

Uninstall Viewpoint Manager under Add/Remove Software.

If it survived all that could you find and mail me (preferably zipped) copies of
C:\WINDOWS\digfilt.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\scagent.exe
Send it to pieterATwilderssecurity.org (replace AT with @)

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = http://1-se.com/srchasst.html (obfuscated)
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.dll/sp.html

;)

Ok, I followed all instructions from last entry.
Unfortuanetly the virus is still here.

This file; C:\WINDOWS\system32\jc6eta.dll
even though I deleted it through hijackthis, it came back. I tried deleting it several times through hijackthis and every time I restart my computer it's still there.

Also, the program on this website http://securityrespo...moval.tool.html
did not detect "Backdoor.Agent.B" on my computer.
The programs "AVG Anti-Virus" and "Ad Aware SE" keep detecting the virus "Backdoor.Agent.BA"

Norton is still detecting the virus "bloodhound.w32.ep" on my computer.

I still have these files on my computer which seem to be virus related:
1. C:\WINDOWS\digfilt.dll
2. C:\WINDOWS\digfilt2.dll
3. C:\WINDOWS\httpfilter.dll
4. C:\WINDOWS\httpfilter2.dll
5. C:\WINDOWS\system32\saintag
6. C:\WINDOWS\system32\scagent
7. C:\WINDOWS\system32\sqll.dll (which AVG Anti-Virus is calling "Backdoor.Agent.BA")

All of these files will not let me delete or quarantine them.

What now???

Hi Mewho,

Have you tried running AVG in safe mode?

Let us know if that works.

This is the only entry that should not be in your log:
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [o0eb0.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\o0eb0.exe /k

But fix that in safe mode as well or it will be replaced by something else.

Regards,

Pieter

Ok, I started the computer in safe mode. :tazz:
I ran 3 virus scans
1. AD Aware Se
2. AVG
3. Norton

They all found viruses.
Norton found the Bloodhound.w32.ep virus & quarantined it.
I'm not sure which the other two found.
I was able to delete all the files that still appeared on my system...
1. httpfilter.dll
2. httpfilter2.dll
3. scaintag
4. digifilt

So far they havn't come back in normal mode. BUT....

This last file "sqll.dll" still will not let me delete it still. In safe or normal mode.
This was the file AVG called "Backdoor.Agent.BA"
I'm concerned about the file still being there. Any thoughts??? ;)

here's the latest hijackthis log:

Download, unzip and run: http://computercops....rijn/adsspy.zip

Click the "Scan the system for ADS" button and copy the log into your next post if any are found.

Pieter

Thanks a mill for your help so far.

I downloaded Ads Spy.
When I open the program it gives me the option to "Scan the system for alternate data streams" rather than "Scan the system for ADS". I assumed they were the same thing so I did the scan. I was not able to copy the log. But all it seemed to find is basically this "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Pictures\Sample Pictures\Thumbs.db : encryptable (0 bytes)" "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Pictures\80's party\Thumbs.db : encryptable (0 bytes)

They were 18 files within my picutes except these two:

C:\6in1ico\Thumbs.db : encryptable (0 bytes)
C:\Temp\Thumbs.db : encryptable (0 bytes)

We would be looking for something with a size of a few kb so we can forget about ADS (which does indeed mean Alternate Data Streams :tazz: )

If sqll.dll is visible in explorer then try this:
In HijackThis click Config > Misc Tools > Delete a file on reboot and show the path to sqll.dll

Reboot when prompted.

Pieter

I was a little slow on the acronym!! :tazz:

I tried deleting it on hijackthis... it was a NO GO.

Just as I was checking to see if the file deleted or not AVG Anti-Virus popped up and said it was still there.

Bummer.
Whoever made this is a cleaver, morbid, computer hating individual.
The [bleep] thing won't go away.

I think i'm going delirious now.

Can you try this:
http://www.bleepingc...les/killbox.php

Use the Replace on Reboot option and put a checkmark in the Use dummy box.

Pieter
