hi

my problem is i have no sound from my pc i hear the system sounds thru my speakers but not a cd or music i have on my pc i set up a second set of speakers and still the same i uinstalled the sound card and reinstalled it same problem no sound i ran the troubleshotter from xp and still no sound the pc stats the device is working fine.

Try checking "Start", "All programs", "Accessories", "Enterainment", "Volume Control". Make sure "Wave" and "CD Player" sliders are set reasonably high. Check back with the results !

hi

i did what you askled and still no sound when i put it on full a get some strsne noises from the speakers. i looked in device manager and the sound card is a sound blaster pci and i restoree to defaults to no help any more ideas

Are you sure the speakers are connected to the correct output on your sound card?

Does your device manager show any unknown devices or conflicts?

nope the device manager stats the card is working properly

Try removing your sound card from the device manager and then restart. The hardware wizard should find the sound card on reboot and reinstall it.

i removed the sound card from the device manager and rebooted still no sound and also made sure all the wires were in place i slso took them out and put them back in just incase the was loose one any more ideas

Everything sounds like it should be working. You could try a repair installation of Windows XP: http://www.geekstogo...p?showtopic=138

If that doesn't work, try another sound card.

hello and thanks to all the advice


i did the repair for xp. still no sound i also bought a new sound card and still no sound i get all my system sounds thru my speakers but that is it .
