that ram is for the image processing and i think it get's used for the undo history....so...i think it will be ok...if anything it would just ...slow down when doing something large

the default settings should be ok....if memory serves correct it analyzes your configuration before setting stuff up..

You tube has a great array of Gimp tutorials, I learnt to use Gimp from You Tube a few months ago, I used YOU TUBE Downloader to save the good tutorials for later viewing and recall should I forget something. It's free like Gimp.
