OK. I ran Ewindo (25 infected files -24 cookies and one trojan - Not Trojan.Vundo)
and Trojan Hunter (Found nothing).
I ran Spybot, which found 10 problems and fixed them, but not the Trojan.Vundo.
It was originally detected by Symantec Antivirus Ver 8 Corporate Edition.

I downloaded both of their fix tools (Vundo and VundoB), neither of which detected the virus.

I ran the HijackThis tool and tried to Delete on Reboot the mllmn.dll file. This was unsuccessful
even though I remembered to turn off the Restore feature of XP.

My next thought was to find a bootdisk that lets me delete files on the NTFS volume. (This is if the Delete on reboot didn't work. The problem may also be that a process is rewriting the infected file from some other place on the hard drive (network cable off and in safe mode.)

The description on the "O20 - Winlogon Notify: mllmn - C:\WINDOWS\system32\mllmn.dll
line leads me to believe that the virus call happens early in the boot process.

Am I on thr right track? Can you help me?

Please don't post any other logs unless we ask for it. We only need the HijackThis log for starters.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Uninstall Viewpoint via the Add/Remove panel.

Download KillBox http://www.greyknigh...spy/KillBox.exe. Run KillBox and check the box that says 'End Explorer Shell While Killing File'. Next click on 'Delete on Reboot'. Right click and copy the below lines. Go back to KillBox. Go to File->Paste from Clipboard and then hit the button with a red circle and white X. Confirm to delete and when asked if you want to reboot, say Yes:

C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Owner\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\VTCKOR3F\WinFixer2005ScannerInstall[1].exe

If you get a PendingOperations message, just close it and restart your computer manually.

Please download VundoFix.exe at http://www.atribune....ds/VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

* Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files.
* After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key (or F5 in some machines) until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
* Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
* Please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\mllmn.dll

* Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
* When asked for a second path, enter -> C:\WINDOWS\system32\nmllm.*
* Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
* The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
* In HijackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click 'Options...'
Move the arrow down to 'Custom CleanUp!'
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

* Empty Recycle Bins
* Delete Cookies
* Delete Prefetch files
* Cleanup! All Users

Click OK. Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.
It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run an online virus scan at ActiveScan http://www.pandasoft.../activescan.htm

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HijackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

Dear Gray...
I was successful in removing Trojan.Vundo and Winfixer2005. Before I had contacted you the first time I had tried to remove the Viewpoint myself, resulting in a couple of untouchable files remaining. Therefore, the entries you directed me to weren't there when I removed the other things. However, with the help you provided, I'm sure that when/if it pops up again, I will be able to also remove it.

Also if you have any programs that may prevent system changes (like Spybot's TeaTimer program, Ad-aware's Ad-Watch, and others), make sure you disable them before doing any of the fixes (or accept the changes for the fix we give you when asked by the programs).

Go to Start->Run and type in regedit and hit OK. Go to File->Export and save the registry somewhere as a backup. Close the Registry Editor now. Go to Start->Run and type in notepad and hit OK. Then copy and paste the following into Notepad:

Save the file as "delete.reg". Make sure to save it with the quotes. Close Notepad. Double click on the delete.reg file and choose Yes to merge/add it to the registry. You may delete the file afterwards.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you check the last one:
