Lost Internet Explorer, only works in Safe mode

I just finished removing trojan.vundo per the instructions I saw posted for other people. The virus is noe gone, but 2 strange things have happened;

1) Internet Explorer won't connect to the Internet in regular mode, but it works just fine in safe mode.

2) The computer will not go through a shutdown sequence in normal mode. it just hangs and i need to use the power button to shut it down.

Any ideas? Thanks
