Im trying to install it with comcast but when its renewing the ip it cant and when i turn off the modem and try to renew the ip it works whats going on? :tazz:

also im just trying to connect to the internet on my computer not connect this computer to another computer just this one to connect to the internet

ah...when you turn off the cable modem...and do a hard reboot...thought you were talking about an old dial up modem

what do you mean when you say

does it give you an error when renewing the ip? how are you renewing the ip?

Have you entered the IP; submask net, dns server address, etc as provided by your ISP or does your modem use DHCP??

modem writes it all in and when i try to install it when its renewing the ip it says cannot renew ip please contact your network admin ( yes im a admin)
and when its connected to the modem i try ipconfig /renew and it wont work but when the modem is off or its not connected to it it can renew itself

modem writes it all in


Go into your networking folder and check to see if it is writing there or if you have DHCP enabled..

hmm im not sure if it does

its says
assigned by automatic private adress how do i change it to dhcp
