ok well as of yesterday my mcafee has been popping up once or twice telling me i have newmalware.u installed, and the program was called amenglobal.exe... then i cudnt choose to delete it, it wouldnt work...so i quarantined it. then seconds later it popped up again, and it prob replicated itself or something and called itself amenglobal.exe(1)... after every 15 mins the same procedure would follow...2 notifications at a itme.

i ran many programs last night such as trojan removers etc. etc., and the problem ceased so i thought i had done it. now this morning it found a virus with the exact name newmalware.u with a new filename ... i pressed delete or quarantine...and it would work... but it would keep popping up every second and replicating itself!! i couldn't get rid of it it just wouldnt go. i restarted my comp and the notifications didnt come anymore and i figure its still in here somewhere. another big problem.

I TRIED TO DO SEVERAL SYSTEM RESTORES BUT THEY NEVER WORK. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED. MAYBE ITS THE WORK OF THE VIRUS IM NOT SURE.??

Please click this link to download Silent Runners.
* Save it to the desktop.
* Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
* You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done yet, just let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
* Once you receive the prompt "All Done!", double-click on the new text file on the desktop and copy that entire log and paste it here.

*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

Hey, I'm having a little problem with Silent Runners. I save it to desktop, allow it through microsoft antispyware. then i double click it from desktop, windows asks me if i want to open it and i click open....nothing happens? any clue why?

You have to be patient reread the instructions, It will appear not to be doing anything but in a short period of time it will pop up with a window thats it done and give you a location of the log

Make sure you can view all Hidden Files/Folders


Please restart HJT put a check next to the following, close all open windows and click “Fix Checked”

Hello again, I did as you asked , fix checked, and all, but when i restarted in safe mode the file and folder extra great and amenglobal.exe were not existant (even through a whole cpu search, prob due to an earlier deletion)

my main concern now is that it spread, because the last time i got a detection of "newmalware . u" was in SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION. McAfee kept notifying me of the virus, i kept pressing delete/quarantine, but it kept replicating itself every split second, so i was forced to restart my computer. I haven't heard of the problem yet, but I'm pretty sure its still in here somewhere. Ive done tons upon tons of scans in the past couple of days, and it hasnt detected anything since the SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION incident.

the only symptoms i have noticed as of now is that
1) SYSTEM RESTORE DOES NOT WORK, NO MATTER WHAT DATE I WANT TO RESTORE IT TO.
2) WHEN I OPEN UP MY COMPUTER, CLICK LOCAL DISK C, DOUBLE CLICK TO TRY TO ENTER DOCUMENTS AND SETTING MY COMPUTER FREEZES FOR SEVERAL SECONDS.
i was actually writing this reply post earlier, but my computer froze as i tried to go into documents and settings, and when i came back to this window my text had been erased somehow. WEIRD?

Please download ewido security suite it is a trial version of the program.

• Install ewido security suite
• When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
• Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
• The program will now go to the main screen

You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.

• On the left hand side of the main screen click update
• Then click on Start Update

The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.

Once the updates are installed do the following:

• Click on scanner
• Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
• While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK
• When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.
• Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
• Click Save report.
• Save the report .txt file to your desktop.

Now close ewido security suite.

Post back the repport.txt please

Download the following program, For keeping crap off your system to begin with
Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests. Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox. Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Download Spyware Blaster

Keep AD-Aware. and Spybot 1.3 handy, Check them for updates prior to running and run them weekly
Same with your Anti Virus,

For an added check run an online virus scan, you can use one of the 2 below,
TrendMicro's HouseCall
ActiveScan

Be sure and give the Temp folders a cleaning out now and then as well, Make sure after you clean your Temp files to empty out your Recycle bin as well.
Click Start | Run | type in cleanmgr | OK

Let it scan your system for files to remove.

Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.

Press OK to remove them.


Remeber to Check Windows for updates
