Yesterday my wife tried to go on the computer to check her e mail and the computer would not boot up. It went as far as the screen saying last good configuration, safemode, and safemode with internet access. I told her to shut it down as I was in work and really couldn't help her over the phone. After work I tried to start up the computer and I got to the screen that she was at. I selected last good configuration and it booted up. Everything seemed ok until I went into the system directory and looked for problems. Both my DVD burner and cd rom drives had exclamation points in front of them. I tried to play a cd in both and nothing. I tried to reload drivers and the same thing happened no cd rom or DVD burner found. I uninstalled one of them, rebooted, saw that new hardware was found, but still would not work. I have install cds for both but I don't have a working drive to install them from. I tried to get drivers from the manufacturers website but when I tried to install them the message was that there was no drive found, like it wasn't installed or didn't exist. If I am on the computer I get an error message saying that there is no disc in the drive, retry, cancell, or whatever. Any help would be appreciated as I know that this will probably lead to more problems further down the road if I don't take care of it now. :tazz:

Try the CD Gone patch from here

http://www.geekstogo...action=cat&id=1

Look on the manufacturer's site for each drive for firmware updates
