Hi, I found this forum via googling, thanks in advance for any help you can provide. My wife's pc has constant popups mainly with winfixer but also some apparently random sites also, along with an installer of winfixer which she always clicks "no" to. The following is the hijackthis logfile:

Open Spybot and click on Mode and check Advanced Mode
Check yes to next window.
Click on Tools in bottom left hand corner.
Click on Resident icon.
Uncheck Teatimer box and/or Uncheck Resident.
Close Spybot.

We need to disable your Microsoft AntiSpyware Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.

Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Click on Tools, Settings.
In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
Under Startup Options uncheck Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Reverse the process when you’ve carried out the advise.

Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

• Empty Recycle Bins
• Delete Cookies
• Delete Prefetch files
• Cleanup! All Users

Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

Thank you for the help. I am at the moment running activescan on her pc. I will update once it is done. I don't know if this matters or not, but when I ran hijackthis in safemode, the O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {6DD0BC06-4719-4BA3-BEBC-FBAE6A448152} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\gebcb.dll did not show up. I did proceed with the rest of your directions regardless. On a hunch, I ran hijackthis once her pc rebooted, and that line then did show up, along with O20 - Winlogon Notify: gebcb - C:\WINDOWS\System32\gebcb.dll despite having checked it off/cleaned it. I went ahead and checked/fixed them both again. Activscan is presently about 40% done, once that is done I will post the results, but already it is showing one detection (no details yet). If I don't get a reply telling me otherwise, once I copy the results to here, I will re-follow your instructions and see if anything changes.

sorry for so many replies but I dont see a edit button - anyway, I rebooted her pc and reran hijackthis and neither of those files show up, and no pop-ups yet either.

You ran the SpyXposer instead of the Active Scan.

Run the Free use Panda Active Scan
Use the free use active scan link in the right hand corner.

Post me the results please.

No problem, you're not the first and you will not be the last. They changed it recently and hide the scan in the corner. SpyXposer only reports what it finds.
