Hello,

I seem to constantly get winfixer2000 popups along with the occasionally random winantiviruspro2005/winantispyware2005 pop ups and also pop ups from places such as paidtoplay.net if I go to yahoo games, etc which no one else there seems to get I'm not sure if all these pop ups are coming from the same spyware/malware or not, but I thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

so, here's what I've done so far:

Ran Microsoft Antispyware
Ran Ad-Aware
Ran CW Shredder
Ran Spybot S&D
Ran Trend Housecall
Ran Windows update - installed all critical updates
rebooted

We need to disable your Microsoft AntiSpyware Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.

Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Click on Tools, Settings.
In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
Under Startup Options uncheck Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Reverse the process when you’ve carried out the advise.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Run the Free use Panda Active Scan
use the free use active scan link in the right hand corner.

Hi, g2i2r4, and thank you for the reply

well, first off I seem to be having trouble finding the file sensapi.exe

I can't seem to find it manually in C:\WINDOWS\System32\
nor can the built in windows search utility seem to find it

yes, my folder options are set to show hidden files and folders
yes, my folder options are set to show protected operating system files

even with these options set I nor windows can seem to find sensapi.exe

maybe you have some suggestions? thanks again.

Okay,so, I followed your steps but there were a couple of discrepancies when I ran HijackThis in safe mode...

were not in the list but

were in the list, I fixed the items that were in the list. Rebooted and followed the rest of your directions. Now in the HJT log

is now in the log but

Download the Killbox.
Unzip it to the desktop

Double-click Killbox.exe to run it.

Select "Delete on Reboot".
Place the following line (complete path) in bold in the "Full Path of File to Delete" box in Killbox:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\sensapi.exe

Put a mark next to "Delete on Reboot"
Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

• Please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
• Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat

Please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

• Disable and Enable System Restore. - If you are using Windows ME or XP then you should disable and re-enable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point.

  Re-enable system restore with the instructions from the tutorial above
  
  
• Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:
  • From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
  • Click once on the Security tab
  • Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
  • Click once on the Custom Level button.
    
    • Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
    • Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
    • Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
    • Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
    • Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
    • Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
    • When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
    • If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
  • Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.
• Use an AntiVirus Software - It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future.

• Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option. This will provide realtime spyware & Hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection.
