Ok....got a bit of a problem.... i was on msn messenger and was stupid enough to open a link someone sent me.... now i have a virus and it is getting very annoying... every time i open certain windows it shuts it down automatically, including HiJackThis and notepad.... soo i hurried up and copied a HiJackThis log before it closed and posted it below...

i attached something that F-Prot antivirus found.....dunno if this would be useful to you or not, thought i would attatch it anyway....also, when i try and go to activescan.com it says "the connection was refused"........

After you have done that,lets see 2 more scans and I will prepare a nice smack in the face for these bugs!

Please download Rootkit Revealer (link is at the very bottom of the page)

• Unzip it to your desktop.
• Open the rootkitrevealer folder and double-click rootkitrevealer.exe
• Click the Scan button (bottom right)
• It may take a while to scan (don't do anything while it's running)
• When it's done, go up to File > Save. Choose to save it to your desktop.
• Save it as RKR.log

Download WinPFind:

Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"

Don't use it yet!

Restart in Safe Mode

From the WinPFind folder-> Doubleclick WinPFind.exe and Click "Start Scan"

It will scan the entire System, so please be patient!

One you see "Scan Complete"-> a log (WinPFind.txt) will be automatically generated in the WinPFind folder!


Run MSCONFIG and enable everything in the startup area. To get to MSCONFIG, click on Start -> Run -> type in MSCONFIG -> click OK!

Under the "General" Tab

Make Sure "Normal Startup-load all device drivers and services" has a green tick by it

Click Apply>>Close>>Follow the Prompts to Restart!


Post back with a fresh HijackThis log and the reports from RootKitRevealer and WinPFind!


The image you posted appears to be a bunch of Ad Aware Quaratine files locked inside the F Prot Quaratine Vault!

Reboot into SAFE MODE(Tap F8 when restarting)

Highlight the entry below and press Ctrl+C to Copy

Open Pocket Killbox-> Click File-> Paste from Clipboard

Now,place a tick by these selections:

"Standard File Kill"
"End Explorer Shell while Killing File"
"Unregister .dll before Deleting"
"Deltree(Include Subdirectories)"

Click the Red Circle with the White X in the Middle to Delete!


Open HijackThis and put a check by these but DO NOT hit the Fix Checked button yet!

Run MSCONFIG and enable everything in the startup area. To get to MSCONFIG, click on Start -> Run -> type in MSCONFIG -> click OK!

Under the "General" Tab

Make Sure "Normal Startup-load all device drivers and services" has a green tick by it

Click Apply>>Close>>Follow the Prompts to Restart!

Restart Normal and have the PC Scanned here:
F-Secure

You will need to be using Internet Explorer for the Scan to work!

Save the Report it generates


Post back with a fresh HijackThis log and the report from F-Secure

Thanks for the help! did everything you asked and everything seems good except what f-secure found.....

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts Trojan.Win32.Qhost is what f-secure found

*EDIT* used killbox and killed the file..... now i am able to access panda scan and sites it wouldn't let me access before..... thank you for all your help! This site has really been a godsend!
