Hi everyone,

Basically my site lookes like a bit babyish!!! With all the colors etc...

My friend louis frankland has installed me a mambo database that controls my site. At the moment, louis and me are rebuilding my website, with mambo database.

If you want to see how the new site is coming along, visit http://www.allsortshop.com/cms.

When the new site is finished, we will put it on to the main public_html directory, but for now, its in cms (content managment system).

I basically need a bit of help with mambo...

When i look in sections and catigorys in the mambo administration panel, it lockes them and i need to view them again to unlock them?

Also, some of my pages overlap? Like the center becomes bigger?

It looks like wordpress...

Mambo is a bit hard... I like Geeklog better: http://www.geeklog.net/, but basically they are both the same thing.....

Why is there nothign on it...usually mambo has something built in on it?

And the locking/unlocking thing is just wierd...I couldn't figure out how to do that either...

Im still sticking with mambo.

And with the homepage, its all fine, but check out this new page i made...

http://www.allsortsh...id=16&Itemid=29

The thing is that the white background text is overlapping the page width. Compare it with the homepage and see if there is a reason why it does this?

I can send you my site php mambo template and my css template?

Ok.

Can you go on my building in process site... http://www.allsortshop.com/cms.

As you will see, on the main navigation there are 4 pages.

On my pc, the home, search and contact us pages all work fine. But the news page middle bit is overlapping?

The news page design is not like the others?

Can you take a quick photo of the news page and attach it to the forum so i can see?

And my screen reselution size is 1024 x 768px.

Ive totally changed the template for my site and all is fine.

But just 1 last problem?

When i add a news article to a page, it allways cuts off a bit of the article and says read more. And when i create a news article, it allways has a page of its own just for that news article.

Can you tell me how i can write a news article and insert it into a page, but i dont want the news article to have a page of its own, just displaying that news article?

The locking/unlocking thing is what Mambo calls a Global Check-out system. It's basically in place to prevent multiple users from editing the same document at the same time. What it means to you is that once you open a document (such as a content item) in Mambo, you have to do a Global Check-in before anyone else can open or edit that document. Kind of a pain, but the Global Check-in is really easy to do and just takes a second.

Oh! Now i realise!

Thanks!

And do you know how to add flash into news posts using mambo?

And is there any other content managment system other than mambo? (Better one?)

I'm not sure how to add Flash into a news post, but it seems to me you should be able to do it by imbedding it like you would on any other webpage. Do a Google search for "imbed flash video" to find out how to do that if you're not sure.

As far as a better CMS, I never found one that was nearly as powerful or versatile as Mambo.
