im using an AMD duron 2200 pro motherboard with 256mb DDR ram (pc2700) and a geforce 2 graphic card..

im playing diablo 2, and im using multiple clients... often as much as 8 clients at a time... it gets really laggy... i suppose for that i should increase my ram to at least 512 mb? will that help reduce lag?

secondly, whenever im playing the game with just a single client, i lag as well... im using wireless connection, so i suppose theres nothing i can do? however, will an upgrade in graphic card help reduce the lag of gameplay or should i upgade ram for that as well?

im only spending on one of them, so please let me know wad u feel...

You will see the most performance boots is if you upgrade the CPU. The CPU you have there is a buget CPU(Intel does this also). What I mean is that to lower the price of the CPU, AMD has lowered the CPU core speeds, cache levels, and frontside bus. I would upgrade to atleast a AMD Athlon XP chipset.

Intel               AMD
Celeron     -> Duron
Pentium 4  -> Athlon XP

Head on over to Newegg's CPU Section to find prices. If you upgrade to a Athlon XP, I think you have to upgrade the motherboard.

Before you do the RAM, you should get a new video card. I would get a Geforce 4 TI 4400, or a GeforceFX 5600 from eVGA or XFX. Hope that this helps.

hmm, my bad...

i'll add more info here... i just checked out my system info, and heres wad i have

amd athlon™ xp
1.2GHz
256MB of RAM

sorry, the earlier one is pretty different from this i guess... since its already amd athlon, should i just upgrade ram or to geforece 4...

btw, any comments on my cpu in general? for gameplay etc

you can get a new processer of www.3btech.net very cheap and a new motherboard shouldnt be that much, also i would upgrade your memory to atleast 512, recommend going with 1 gig for most gaming

as with most things its personal preference: is your geforce 2 running 64mb if so then think about a graphics card upgrade (i used to run a 64 mb geforce2 before upgrading to a 256 mb geforce 5500) also you must consider a memory upgrade it really is surprising how an extra couple of mb will make your comp that little bit faster

well ram wise a decent quality ram of say 256 upwards depending on what you actually want the comp to do ....dont forget the bus speed of the ram lol but as i said previously it is amasing how even upgrading by 64 can make the comp seem like a fresh out the box one.....do some shopping around either on the net or your local comp shop to get the best possible ram for the best possible price

i've no idea if i should just get another 256 or a 512 since i've heard stories that a 512 256 combination is not as good as a 256 256 combination... they have to be the same each slot? =/
