Audible voice error message on startup

We are getting an audible voice message when starting our computer that repeats about 5 times as the computer boots, after which windows (98) starts up normally. We are unable to understand the message but it seems to be 3 words. My local tech guy said to check all the connections, mouse, keyboard etc. as this was usually an indication that something was loose, but everything is tight and the message continues. Thanks for any help!
