I downloaded the install CD and burnt it to a cd (i belive it was a sucsseful DL but did not really check)then i started to install it i got my hard drive partioned (this was a pain because the keyborad was not working that great, i would push a key once and it would act like i pressed it like 50 times, but anyway) i got to the point were it told me to eject the cd and reboot so i did. then it rebooted and started installing the remaining packages whan that got done it brought up something were i thought i was to login but then just as i was going to put my password in it went to a black screen w/ a solid white line in the top left corner it was not flashing and the system was totaly unresponsive. is there anyway i can fix it or am i SOL.

i have a feeling the answer will be kinda complicated if i can fix it so try to make it as simple as possiable.i am a newbie

Ok when I tried to install Ubuntu it did work first time so it was probably a bad download becuase when I tried to install it it did just the same.
what I would suggest is try downloading it again or download a different linux distro.
