Hello Geek friends, I am a new member as per today ! I found your website on Internet, trying to find a solution to my computerproblems. After studying some of your replies to other members , I also am turning to you for help.

1) cannot run p2esocks_1014.dll It keeps appearing whenever I start Windows. What does this mean, and can you help me fix it ?

2) I also have difficulties to watch and even listen to music in Windows Media Player Version 9.00.00.2980

3) I am currently using Symantiic Antivirus Corporate Edition Version 8.00.9374

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

Hello Pieter, thks for your assistance ! I did the steps by your instructions and the error box ' cannot rundll' has finally disappeared. Thank you !
However I still cannot run the application of Windows MediaPlayer Version 9, as I used to do.
I thought maybe it had something to do with the topic I started ' p2esocks_1014.dll.

This is the log I received after I fixed according to your response. Maybe I should start a new Topic with the subject Windows MeidaPlayer crashes while selecting movietrailers and saved videoclips. What is the problem ? Can you help, advise or suggest a solution.
Thank you all for any help !

Remove this entry with Hijack This:

O1 - Hosts: 64.91.255.87 www.dcsresearch.com

Try uninstalling Windows Media Player:

Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, click on Add/Remove Windows Components and uncheck Windows Media Player and click Next. Now go here and download it again.

http://www.microsoft...ies/player.aspx

Let me know how that works.

Hello Johnnyrotten, a big bunch of red roses to you for your help with getting my computer in order. Now it works with Media Player and I have at the moment no huge problems except for that I have to run Ad-Aware SE everyday as I have
spyagents such as ' tracking cockies '. Can you recommend any programme that prevents these from entering my computer ?

Thks again from Karin

If you are using Firefox you can block the cookies. Find out the website they are coming from by looking closely at what AdAware finds. Then open Firefox and click "Tools", "options", "Privacy", "Cookies", "Exceptions". You can now enter the website in the list for example:

doubleclick.net

Then click the block button. Now all cookies from doubleclick.net will be blocked.

In internet explorer, click "Tools", "Internet Options", "Privacy", "Edit", and you can block cookies there too.
