Windows 2000 - Duplicate Programs Running

:tazz: This is for a friend who has Windows 2000 - any help will be greatly appreciated. Duplicate programs (up to 4) are running when he starts a program such as Winamp (altho other programs are doing this as well). His CPU's are maxed out and he's have problems staying connected to the internet. Thanks for your time and expertise!
