When I open IE, it claims not to connect. If I open a game and try to connect to the net, it claims not to - I did see the automatic updater say 'downloading - xx%' though. When I open Firefox, I don't get the homepage, I get some ad-ware that I can't seem to rid myself of. I don't believe this PC has service pack two (xp home).
I've ran the usual, Ad-aware, Spybot, cleaned out whatever I could in HJT(there were so many host hijacks, got most of them), got rid of temp. files, defragmented; the PC runs a thousand times faster, but still hijacked.
I did update the MOBO drivers (the ethernet is onboard) - oh and, the PC generally connects through Yahoo! SBC DSL, I was trying to connect with Wide Open West (WOW!) cable. (The device manager says the ethernet port / connecter is working correctly).
