Avast Antivirus is free and marvellous!
As to firewalls I use Privacy Expert Suite, but if you want a free one you can simply use
Windows XP SP2 firewall

Frankly I use Privacy Expert Suite as anti-spyware software too. As to any other software I know that Microsoft Windows Antispyware (Beta) is not bad.
