Ok, I finally got my fonts fixed temporarily anyway. Ends up that the virus or whatever it is deletes the fonts and so the only font that shows up is Marlett (the font that is used to create the min, max, etc buttons) hence the symbols.

Anyhow, here is the properties of mszx23.exe
Size: 47.6 KB
Size on disk: 48.0 KB
Created: January 19, 2005 7:08 PM EST
Modfied Jan 20 8:53 PM EST (last time I logged as normal mode)
cmd line: c:\windows\system32\mszx23.exe

ALSO, have figured that I PROBABLY have a newer virus. Have a friend with connections who is going to send it to Symantec for review tomorrow.

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please save Hijack This in a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

[B]Reboot
your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. :tazz:

hello, sorry I have not posted an update in a while.

Yes, I had double posted in 2 different forums just incase there were different people helping on each one. I managed to fix my problem but not with the desired method, I restored by computer so that Windows Xp was reinstalled and was finally able to rid msx23.

I found a solution today though that I thought I would post incase anyone else is having the problem. The solution is on page 2.
