OK so this is really upsetting me and hopefully one of you will be able to help me out on this.
So I have a brand new HP laptop and I wanted to have it wirlessly connect to the internet but did not want the hasle of setting up a router and all that so I did an ad hoc network. So the firrst thing I did was install a wirless NIC in my desktop and configured it to set up an ad hoc network (Im pretty sure those settings are right) then I set up ICS on my DSL connection (This maybe where I went wrong). Then on the laptop I setup the ad hoc connection and both computers say that the connection is excellent and that the connection is working properly. On the desktop when I go to MY NETWORK PLACES and then view workgroup computers I can see both computers but when i try this on the laptop i get this error: HOME is not accesible. You might net have permission etc. Network path was not found. So I want to know why on one computer I can see both computers but on the other I cant see any. Also on the laptop when I try to connect to the internet using Firefox it says looking up www.google.com and then a few secs later says that the site could not be found. (I have also tried this in explorer-same problem) I have set the laptop to a static IP of 192.168.0.2 and subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and the default gateway to 192.168.0.1(desktop ip of the wireless card) Ping commands work on both computers. So any ideas or solutions would be GREAT so I can figure out this problem.

Oh and thank you for all replys in advance. :tazz:

Have you tried setting it up with the network connection wizard allowing the laptop's IP be assigned by DHCP from the desktop. When I tried static IPs with my home network it didn't like it either.

Can you ping your DNS from the laptop? (try 139.134.5.51 if you don't know yours)
