remove cd or media

My win 98se would lock up so tried to reformat now all it says is remove media cd. even if the format disk is in or if the cd rom is empty. does anybody have some Ideas with this?

Have you checked in Setup, it may be set to boot from cd-rom still. Also, if it's an older machine the BIOS tends to slowly become corrupt, it may need to be reflashed.

how do you flash a bios


First you go to the machine maker's or motherboard maker's website and see if they have a BIOS download or update for your machine. Different maker's have different ways of doing the BIOS installation, but they will provide complete instructions. Follow them very carefully or you can end up with a dead computer.
