cross over cable conection, please help!

hi, is it possible to connect a laptop to a pc using a cross over cable and make it so that when, for example on the laptop u type D: (for the cd drive), that you can access the cd in the pc from the laptop? ..... sorry dont really know the technical terms :tazz:

What you are describing is networking (kinda-sorta) the machines. It might be better to post this in the Networking Forum.
