XP - sound for Randon House Unabridged Dictionary

I have a Random House Unabridged Dictionary 2nd Edition Version 1.7 October 14, 1994 with a Pronunciation resource which worked very well till Windows 98. However it does'nt work in XP. Even the icon for pronunciation (an small speaker) disapered! I know that many programs built for windows 3.1 and 98 do not work in XP but mine is only the sound. How to fix this?

try runing it in compatability mode..

right click on the executable for the program, then properties, then compatability, and set it for 98
