I"m not sure if this is related but recently i have been having some problems with firefox. When I am in forums and things like that, a lot of the pictures won't show up like avatars and pictures posted. It isnt bad links for the pictures or anything. Also, every once in a while i will try to go to webpages and it will act as if i am dissconnected from the internet, but things like instant messanger are still working fine. If you have an idea what this might be let me know. Thanks again.

I restored the files then ran the scan. The scan said there were no descrepencies found and when i saved the text file, it was empty.

That is excellent! I'm going to turn this back over to retrac now! I think he's going to have you run one more thing for us before we declare you clean. If you see this before he gets on again, go ahead and give him a fresh HijackThis log. I'll be keeping an eye on things, and he knows where to find me if he needs me.

You will have to Allow the installation of Active X controls.
You will have to enter a valid e-mail address.

to the desktop.

Please run Killbox.

Select "Delete on Reboot".

Copy everything in BOLD below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard". Right click in the White Box provided and choose Paste

Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again..

Hey ep3w Well All Looks CLEAN

That entry in the ActiveScan "Spyware:spyware/searchcentrix No disinfected Windows Registry" is useless with out its Counter parts

You can delete the KillBox folder and all its contents now that will get rid of that other entry in the ActiveScan.


Now How has your Firefox been Working ??? Is it still acting wierd, not loading avatars etc ?? I would maybe suggest Uninstalling Firefox and then Deleting its folder : C\Program Files\Mozzila Firefox

Now Download a fresh version from my Signature. ( this will require you reinstalling any Plugins you had ) but Firefox will prompt you when you visit a site that requires a Plugin so

Try that and let me know how things are working. If You are still having trouble let me know.


IMPORTANT
I am assuming you have a firewall with your Norton Internet Security ( If you dont let me know )

We have a couple of last steps to perform and then you're all set.
let's clean your restore points and set a new one:

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected)1. Turn off System Restore.On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
2. Restart your computer.

3. Turn ON System Restore.On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
[/list]System Restore will now be active again.

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future you should definetly use the following free programs:

• SpywareBlaster Update then "enable all protection" Weekly
  
  
• AdAware SE Personal Update and do a scan every now and then.
  
  
• SpyBot S&D
  Install the program. During installation Make sure Teatimer IS NOT checked.
  Then follow all the setup steps "backup registry, Download Updates, Immunize"
  After all that select the Search and Destroy button, Check for problems and after scanning is complete, Fix selected problems.
  Keep Spybot updated and Immunized (weekly)

Update these programs weekly, and be aware of what emails you open and websites you visit.

To keep your operating system up to date visit Microsoft monthly to check for Critical updates..
