Hey guys, i ran everything i was told to before posting my log. Anyway i got AVG the other day after my DAT's ran out in McAfee and it told me i had a virus (my first one, McAfee normally catches them before they settle in) called ''Java/ByteVerify'' which was in my Java folder anyway i got rid of it and put it in the vault but today i ran another check and its back and this is my first log so i hope i dont have any other nasty things in store for me.

And i'am on hoilday monday so i hope i get it sorted before then or it may worry me a little but it dont sound or look that bad a virus as i dont think its done anything to be honest but you never know.

You have a CoolWebSearch infection.

Download CWShredder Here to its own folder.

Update CWShredder

• Open CWShredder and click I AGREE
• Click Check For Update
• Close CWShredder

Boot into Safe Mode:
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Now run CWShredder. Click I Agree, then Fix and then Next, let it fix everything it asks about. Reboot your computer into normal windows.

Then, rescan with HJT, and post a frech log for check.

Hi Matt, first of sorry for the long wait.

Right i ran that and and booted up in ''Safe Mode'' i ran it and it was going through its process and it said that ''McAfee Privacy Service'' could not run in ''Safe Mode'' (of course that is what protects my computer at the moment and AVG). But i doubt that had anything to do with it, anyway it said that it could not find any ''CoolWebSearch Infection'' but the other day when i ran it (i had to rush out so did not get chance to post it) it was there, oh and i did that scan the other day in normal boot up mode so i tried doing a second scan today in normal boot up mode and it was GONE

One thing I would like to point out:
You are currently running two anti-virus applications (McAfee and AVG). I would highly reccomend that you usninstall one of them. Having more than one AV can cause more problems than help, even rendering some protection unavailable.

I dont know if its because of the clean up we did or if it happend the day before we did that, but the last few days my ''explorer.exe'' after the PC's on about an hour it runs at nearly 100% and i have to close it has i cant do anything and i have to restart each time as i dont know what folder it runs from (system32 ?)

What could be wrong or do you want me to post this in another part of this board or maybe a log ?

I found the file it was in my ''WINDOWS'' folder so i just ran it and its ok now but i cant keep doing that it will do my head in.

Yes, please post a fresh HJT log so I can give it another look. By the way, did you disable one of your two Anti-Virus programs? If not, please do so, as it may be a reason for your problem.

Right i have just turned off my ''McAfee AntiVirus'' in my ''MaAfee Security Centre'' i doubt i need to use ''McAfee AnitVirus'' anymore since the Dats had run out a few days ago plus of course i now have ''AVG''. To be honest i think your right it did start around that time when i had both them runnin at the same time anyway a fresh log just incase and i will let you know tommorow if i have any problems with ''Explorer.exe'' again.
