hi there, my daughter was on msn when this link was automatically sent to her by her friend

She clicked the link and a downloaded proceeded. She pressed the "x" to cancel the download, but the computer is acting very very strangely. Somehow it stopped Zone Alarm from working, and wouldnt let me access the internet. I also tried to access msconfig to change my startup, but the box would open for a split secong and disappear. My homepage has changed to "www.gamingunderground.us/index.php", also on other webpages the font is now large. I have ran AVG scanner but didnt help, also tried Hitman pro and Ewido.

Please download MsnVirRem.zip
and save it to your desktop. Once in place, right click the zip file, and extract the files to your desktop. DO NOT RUN ANYTHING YET


Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work.


In the new MsnVirRem folder, that you should have on your desktop, double click MsnVir.bat and let it run its course. A DOS window should pop up, Let it run until it disappears. It will take time. So just chill
After it disappears, reboot back into normal mode, and post a fresh HijackThis Log.

Hi i extracted the files to my desktop but it said this is not a suitable file for ms dos or windows application. please choose close to terminate.

Whats happening? My pc is really messed up.

please copy this file-- C:\windows\repair\autoexec.nt
and paste it into this folder-- C:\windows\system32\
If it asks you to overwrite some file of the same name, say yes.
This Should fix it. After that try following my instructions again.
