Hello,

In the last 2 weeks I have been having a lot of new problems appearing in my system...

The first problem that I was aware of, was that when I installed a software the system rebooted by itself, and when I tried to run that software the system also rebooted by itself...I tried it with 2 different softwares, I tried to install winamp and a sony CD player music software...

Then, when I was trying to read my emails with microsoft outlook, the messages would close by themselves, and when i open mozilla firefox and try to brouse on the internet, sometimes the window would minimize by itself...

Last, when i try to shut down the computer, everytime I go on start and turn off computer, then my explorer would go into error and restarts the windows explorer, and on the second attempt it would work...

I tried to system restore, but it didn't help...So I went for a windows XP repair with the WinXP CD, and it didn't help either, the internet minimizing and the email closing stopped, also the shut down errpr also stopped, but I still can't install those softwares without system rebooting...I don't know if this will happen with other software, I haven't tried other ones...except for security ones...

A new problem occured when i repaired windows...Now when I turn on my computer and use it, after a while it starts to extremely slow down, my norton antivirus scan which usually takes around 30 minutes, takes ver 7 hours now, and when my comp goes into the screensaver, to come back to the explorer, it takes around 3 to 4 minutes, and when I open any window, it takes a couple of minutes too...

So system restore is done, repair is done, I also did a spybot and an adaware scan, and nothing was found, I have spywareguard and spybot resident on at all time...I just finished installing and running ewido security suite, Trend micro online virus and malware scan and TrojanHunter, and they all found nothing on my computer...I also ran CCleaner, CWShredder and CleanUP!...

So please can you tell me what are my options now without formatting, I have a lot of software that i doN,t want to reinstall, especially I have full adobe with all the extras, and this would take me over 6 or 7 hours to install everything...

Thank you for your help in advance

You have an awful lot of programs that start when your computer does. Re-run a HJT scan and put a check in the checkboxes that correspond to the following items:
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CTStartup] C:\Program Files\Creative\Splash Screen\CTEaxSpl.EXE /run
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DAEMON Tools-1033] "G:\Daemon\daemon.exe" -lang 1033
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvMediaCenter] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvMcTray.dll,NvTaskbarInit
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WINDVDPatch] CTHELPER.EXE
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UserFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -u
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UpdReg] C:\WINDOWS\UpdReg.EXE
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_04\bin\jusched.exe
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [OPSE reminder] "C:\Program Files\ScanSoft\OmniPageSE2.0\EregFre\Ereg.exe" -r "C:\Program Files\ScanSoft\OmniPageSE2.0\EregFre\ereg.ini"
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NeroFilterCheck] C:\WINDOWS\system32\NeroCheck.exe
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CTRegRun] C:\WINDOWS\CTRegRun.EXE
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AnyDVD] C:\Program Files\SlySoft\AnyDVD\AnyDVD.exe
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Acrobat Assistant 7.0] "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Distillr\Acrotray.exe"
  • O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background
  • O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [LDM] C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop Messenger\8876480\Program\BackWeb-8876480.exe
  • O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ATI Launchpad] "C:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia\main\LaunchPd.exe"
  • O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ASUS SmartDoctor] C:\Program Files\ASUS\SmartDoctor\\SmartDoctor.exe /start
  • O4 - Startup: Adobe Gamma.lnk = C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Calibration\Adobe Gamma Loader.exe
  • O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Acrobat Speed Launcher.lnk = ?
  • O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Reader Speed Launch.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\reader_sl.exe
  • O4 - Global Startup: InterVideo WinCinema Manager.lnk = C:\Program Files\InterVideo\Common\Bin\WinCinemaMgr.exe
  • O4 - Global Startup: Logitech Desktop Messenger.lnk = C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop Messenger\8876480\Program\LDMConf.exe
  • O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE
  • O4 - Global Startup: VIA RAID TOOL.lnk = C:\Program Files\VIA\RAID\raid_tool.exe
  • O4 - Global Startup: WinZip Quick Pick.lnk = C:\Program Files\WinZip\WZQKPICK.EXE
The following items are OPTIONAL to put a check in their boxes:
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CTSysVol] C:\Program Files\Creative\SB Live! 24-bit\Surround Mixer\CTSysVol.exe /r - ctsysvol.exe is a process installed alondside Creative Labs audio devices which handles volume. - [color=red]If you leave this option unchecked, then go to the DEVICE MANAGER, double-click on SOUND & AUDIO DEVICES and uncheck the box that says show PLACE VOLUME ICON IN THE TASKBAR and click APPLY and OK. No need to have two controls for volume running at the same time in the systray.
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RemoteControl] "C:\Program Files\ASUSTek\ASUSDVD\PDVDServ.exe" - PDVDServ.exe is a process belonging to PowerDVD which allows a user to plug in a remote control.
  • O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [OpwareSE2] "C:\Program Files\ScanSoft\OmniPageSE2.0\OpwareSE2.exe" - OpwareSE2.exe is a process associated with OmniPage from Scansoft. Omnipage is a document conversion software helping you to convert documents between different formats
Once you have all the items above checked, click the FIX CHECKED button and hit YES/OK to any windows that pop up while HJT is removing the entries. Then reboot your computer.

Post back how things are going.

Thank you for the help, I did what you asked for...

My computer is still running extremely slow after a couple of hours of being on...This problem started exactly since I repaired windows XP...Do you know if this is a common thing?

:tazz: I have read on several forums that it is NOT a good idea to have
BOTH SpywareGuard & Spybot's TeaTimer on the same computer;
they may interfere with each other since they essentially perform
the same function. Also I noticed your Java program is one Update
"behind " ; would encourage you to go to www.java.com and get
the latest "Update 5", then uninstall your current "Update 4" .
