So one of my online accounts from a commercial website (I won't say which) was hacked, and my bank account connected with that website was depleted of several thousand dollars. If I do report this fraud and get a court order to track down whoever scammed me, what do they do with the IP? Can the trace the EXACT location (i.e. street address, street, city, state, zipcode) of the person? Just curious.

I believe it tracks down their ISP, and the ISP should be able to track them down.

You can try these at whois servers.

Hope it all gets worked out.

once you get the court order...your lawyers...the police (ha)..and your ISP will take the rest..you will not have to do any of the work..except proving the money was stollen..
