Hi,

For the past couple of months I've been having more and more problems with my relatively new computer. (March of this year) It's a HP Pavillion, AMD Athalon 64 Processor, 3200+,1.79 GHZ, 384 MB RAM, Windows XP, 80 G Hard drive. I have recently installed McAfee Anti-virus, firewall, and privacy. I had AVG before that. When I installed the McAfee, it picked up that I had a Trojan horse virus. The problems I'm having are: constant programs not responding at shut down or restart, won't shut down by itself, running slow at times, and, since the hurricane, not much internet. I thought it was from the storm, but two times when I've restarted and unplugged and then plugged back in my cable modem and Vonage modem it's went back online. There was one time when the computer started back up and did a reformat by itself, so now I can't do a system restore prior to October. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
