I just recently did a full system recovery as I didn't have any files that were important to save. My problem is the only thing different is now I use Mcafee firewall nd virusscan , instead of Norton. Is it possible that this could be my problem?

ok....before pressing the shut down button...turn off all mcaffee software...(you may have to end some of the proecesses for the firewall..and the activescan protection)...also turn of your other virus scanner...(nd?) then try the shutdown

I do believe I have found my problem. I totally uninstalled McAfee virus scan and McAfee firewall and reloaded Norton internet security. Problems have seemed to totally stopped. McAfee must have a software problem on one or more of there software, as I uninstalled and reinstalled it did exactly the same thing. I'm saying good-bye to McAfee until they can fix these types of problems. Maybe when there sales drop of to almost nothing they will read my e-mail and figure it out. They did not seem to be the least bit concerned with my issue. Thanks for your help. :tazz:

it sounds like one of the mcaffee processes was getting hung up on shutdown...it's possible that you had a shutdown scan enabled...which wouldn't be a good idea in any case
