My computer is seriously, totally screwing up on me to the point where I honestly have no idea what to do...

It all started 2 weeks ago when I started getting these random pop-ups, so I did what I normally do, I first tried system restore, cause that sometimes works....it didnt this time. So then I tried using ad-aware, did a full system scan, and while it did find some stuff, it didnt get rid of them. So then I tried Spybot, Ewido, spyware doctor, etc....none of them got rid of them. So I checked on Hijackthis...and nothing was out of the ordinary.....

....thats not my biggest problem though. So now, two weeks later, I notice that today, my internet connection icon down in the system tray is missing....so I go to network connections, and find out that all my icons are gone! So, in a panic......I try a system restore. After my computer reboots, it says my system has been "significantly changed" and that I need to reactivate windows (I bought my PC from best buy about 4 years ago...) and aside from that, I've noticed that aside from my network connections icons, some other odd things have occured...such as winzip mysteriously disappearing!

Things that may matter:

How/when I noticed that everything was screwed up: after I brought it out of standby this afternoon
OS: Windows XP
Something odder than the other stuff: Yahoo messenger was open when I brought it out of standby...but I hadn't used it up to that point..

If anyone knows what the heck is going on, please tell me!

You mentioned you ran HijackThis. Is there any chance you can run it again and post a log for us to view? Might be able to find a solution within that new log if you're able to post it.

alright, this is really, really, really, really freaking me out now........I found a folder called "Second Sight Software" on my PC, it's empty....I never installed or created such a folder, and it's creation date was thursday.....I looked up just what Second Sight Software is.....and I found this.....

What in the name of the flying dutchman does this mean!? Did someone hack me or something? I have no knowledge of ever installing it, and the scarier part is, that despite the fact it says that the creation date was thursday, the folder wasnt even THERE yesterday! This is all getting reallllyyyy friggin weird
