Hello,

I recently formatted my pc due to a really big problem, and i was reinstalling sims 2. It asked me to install directx 9.0c which i did, but it just skipped the process of installing straight to the "finished" bit. I have tried using different downloads of directx but it just does the same thing.

Ive checked on the directx support site already but it seems scant on info about it.

Im running Windows XP professional on an Athlon 2600+ and 1024MB of RAM with an FX5200 graphics card

Thankyou for any replies

i do already have directx 9.0b, it stays as 9.0b even after the 9.0c installatin is "Finished". Running dxdiag says that:

The file qasf.dll is an old version, which could cause problems.
You should reinstall DirectX to get the latest version.

When i checked about uninstalling on the support site, it says something about it being a part of wondows and therefore uninstallable.

im sorry if this is on the wrong board but i think it is a component of windows XP though.

As i understand it, Direct X installation just checks the version of your files and if you have that version it doesn't install, so i can't reinstall 9.0b and install 9.0c at the same time
