Hi all

Here's the deal...............

Was running a 10yr old Dell L Series (600mhz 10GB HD!) and was happy with it for YEARS! Last Wed or Thurs it started acting up.........it could have been before that but I have had MANY 2-3 day NO sleep fix sessions since then. So, I went out and bought this comp (Compaq Presario SR1610NX..........dont need the best/fastest thing out there) and I swear it's doing the same thing with some differences! I've done 2 or 3 system restores/PC Recoveries and not sure. SOOOOOOO here's the HJT log

(NOTICE: Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) That WinNT 5.01.2600 was on my other computer too and said something about UNIPROCESSOR FREE, and on this one says MULTIPROCESSOR FREE is this something strange? Im not on a Network, this is a home computer, and I DONT do any kind of Remote Assist. or anything like that!)

Am I just imagining this? On the other computer it had bypassed how Notepad and Wordpad items were saved and where they were saved.

ALSO, is it possible for a hacker to get access to my computer with a wireless connection through my cell phone without me knowing it??????? And should there be any active "listening ports" on my computer at any time?

Thanks
Bill

P.S......I NEVER DOWNLOADED THE Service Pack 2 thing and im looking around my comp now and theres A LOT of strange stuff on here! Python? what's that program? Also, it popped up NEW PROGRAMS INSTALLED with Microsoft Office 60-Free Trial as the new prog. I never installed that either! UGH!)

Hello Bill and welcome to Geeks to Go

I have just looked at your HijackThis log and I can't see any malware on it. However, you have broken the golden rule and built yourself a bit of a fortress. In doing so, you have 3 different antispyware programmes running in real-time. This will cause conflicts and slowness, which might be what ails you.

The remedy is to disable the real-time functioning of two of them. The three you have are Ewido, SpyWare Doctor, and Spy Sweeper.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log (from normal mode) and also an Uninstall Log:

Open HijackThis, click Config, click Misc Tools
Click "Open Uninstall Manager"
Click Save List (generates uninstall_list.txt)
Click Save, copy and paste the results in your next post.

and I will take another look.

Hello again

The idea of asking for a HJT log was for me to check whish antispyware programmes you had uninstalled and to see if anything else was changing on your PC. I see that some thing did change; you added an extra antispyware programme - Spybot Teatimer.

I can't help you unless you co-operate.

What is the Windows NT stuff? that 5. etc

Not sure what you are asking me here, but NT is an abbreviation of New Technology.

Of the installed programmes in your list, the ones I would recommend you uninstall are: LimeWire 4.9.37, Viewpoint Media Player, WeatherBug as all of these are known pests or have been known to be pests.
