Hello!
This is a request to fix a second computer. I want to thank you all for great assistance on fixing the first problem I had.

Anyway- seems like I am the person friends ask for help when thye have problems. So You are the friend I ask when I can't solve theirs!

I have a computer that would not respond to any programs when booted up.
I disconnected the internet connection and loaded from a flash drive Spybot, Ad-Aware, Norton trial Antivirus, CW Shredder, and ran all. They collectively cleared out quite a bit of trash.
It also had 65,000 files in the temp directory that I deleted and purged.

It is now running better, but still not completely right...

Problem- something seems to be trying to access the internet. I don't want to connect back to the internet until I can get rid of it, but I also cannot update the above programs to current protection. some are 80 days out of date.

Is ther a way to download the updates then add to the computer manually instead of updating from within the program?

Anyway, I have the Hijack log for your review. If we can get rid of the animal that is trying to access the internet, then I would feel better about connecting back to the internet.

So where do I start? And thanks again for being here. You all are wonderful!

Hello, and thanks! I cleared out all of what you had listed. I was not able to find several of the items you listed. They may have been already removed with other spy removers. I also loaded a new remover called Giant, which is now a Microsoft beta download. It seemed to work better than either Spybot or Adaware. I haven't seen it recommended here, but is something that you may want to look into.

Anyway, I have updated all three programs as well as Norton virus software and reran all. Each removed more spyware after the last was complete. It seems that none of them remove all and some remove what the other missed.

This computer seems to be running much better now, thanks to your help. I have posted the latest Hijack log. Can you let me know if I still have anything that needs to be removed.

Also, with Windows XP and several users, does the cleaning process need to be repeated for each user or is it good enough to run it under one user.

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use) Click Here.

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend FireFox Posted Image.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder if everything is working okay.

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats. ;)
