well it appears that something, I don't know what corrupted your Internet Explorer. I do know that isn't something that Firefox would do. especially since they work side by side on the same computer.

just for checking this out further could you tell me is this for use with specific software or is it coming from a website?

if it is a website can you put the website address in your next reply so I can do a little investigating.

I will do whatever I can to get to the bottom of this issue.

ok, I just went ot the site and checked on one of the free ebooks, is that what it is you are downloading from there?

as for the hallmark software this may tie in with your current problem. this is definately something software based, but I'm not sure what yet.

so please bear with me on the questions, I did look at your Hijack this log that you worked on with Phil. so I have a little insite in what is going on :tazz:

no I don't need a Hijack this log. but I would like you to do something for me.

Please RIGHT-CLICK HERE to download Silent Runner's.
  • Save it to the desktop.
  • Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
  • You will receive a prompt:
    • Do you want to skip supplementary searches?
      click NO
  • If you receive an error just click OK and double-click it to run it again - sometimes it won't run as it's supposed to the first time but will in subsequent runs.
  • You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
  • Once you receive the prompt All Done!, open the text file on the desktop, copy that entire log, and paste it here.
*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

well what that told me was whether or not your Adobe was installed and if there was any malware hiding that Hijack This doesn't show. for the record that log was clean also.

From what i am gathering from your responses, it appears that your Adobe Acrobat reader has been corrupted, hence the reason the error message was all garbled. I would recommend uninstalling Adobe by going to

start>control panel>add/remove programs then remove Adobe 7.

then go to the Adobe Website and re-download it and install it.
www.adobe.com

if that works we will address your hallmark software problem next.

I did what you told me to do and it still won't download I still get the same error message. By looking at that scan that I did for you what do you think I need to get off my computer? You stated that I had to many anti spyware on my system, Phil had me download Ccleaner and Sygate and security suite.

I don't think this problem is related to the spyware apps.

do you have your Windows XP install cd available or was this pre-installed on your computer with a recvovery disk?

I'll know my next step after you reply.

It was already in my computer when we bought it and the recovery cd I had to have them send it to me the first time my system crashed.

ok, this will take some minor reading and understanding on your part. I highly recommend that you print the instructions in this link out so you have them readily available at all times.

I'm assuming you have a CD-r/w drive on your computer and some blank CD's to put the files on. if not please let me know so that we can change the plan of attack here,

Here is the link, Make sure you go to the section for Windows XP.
