Nintendo DS WiFi connection

i recently got mario kart ds and have been haing trouble getting it to connect to my wireless router, upon a test it gives me the message = connected to access point but unable to connect to server, i've tried on their sites and they gave me a load of information about the DNS or if the nintendo wfc was down (which it isn't i checked) I tried two DNS' my computer gave me but it just keeps giving me the same error, any ideas?
