Ok clear something up is the computer actually on does it startup giving you beeps(thats if ti beeped before on startup) and fan noise, or is it just going off after you hit the button.

Go inside your PC and check you have everything connected properly and its not had any cables nocked out, you might want to try resetting the CMOS when you stick the old memory back in.

Oh and dude maybe you should post your complete problem in something readable you know bullet points would be good something along those lines, do what dsnette said to get the data off anyway and anything else you need that you cant lose, stick it in a freinds or family members PC copy everything you need to their hard drive then burn the data to a disk or onto a USB pen. After that to finish your project there is always the library or the old fashioned pen and paper. You really have to be careful when working on important stuff i copy my entire Uni work folder onto my usb pen regularly so im never without my work or PDFs i need.

i work on graphics n animation, i cant copy down gigs and gigs worth of data.... my computer starts up:

-fan works
-no beep
-screen is blank and off
-computer turns off after about 4 seconds
-after 2 seconds turn back on.
-screen still dead

-i put the old card back in. dont know what u mean by rese CMOs
-computer still acting the same.
-tried different monitors= same problem
-microsoft keyboard has a symbol near the caps lock green light, which is a square with 1 inside it, and it keeps blinking a green light...

that's about all i can say bout it...
pretty sure all the wires and everything is in place...

Double check the wires to be sure. And did you take anti static precautions when you worked inside the machine.

no matter what crucial says....according to your motherboard's manufacturer...it's not capable of using a single 1 gig stick of ram...

well....the WORST that could happen is that your motherboard gets torched....but the most probable thing is that you will have the same problem that brought you here....the system won't boot..
