suddenly, when booting up, I get 3 dos windows named, Diagnostic Traces, DRVMCDB; and DRVMCDB IO. Not sure why this is happening or what it is. I'd like to not have this happen. Any ideas?

don't think so - I searched for files with drvmcdb and found one in the windows\system\drivers folder named drvmcdb.sys. in some other forums I noticed something called Sonic DLA, an applicaton somehow relating to the Dell dvd-cd burner software by Sonic.

that's all I know.

Its a bit drastic but since no one else has ideas do you have the restore disk dell gave u, make sure it doesnt reload ur system just the system files and drivers

Sometimes programs just malfunction and do not constitute spyware.
I found this on another forum...I hope it helps.

"We found it to be something wrong with the installation of Sonic programs, specifically, Sonic's RecordNow! and related programs from Sonic. Uninstalling these programs fixed the problems. Reinstallation of the software (so we could burn CDs) has not caused it to happen again. Something just needed to be reset in the registry or the drvmcdb.sys or drvmcdb.ini file."
