AdAware Problem

I have been using the free version of AdAware very smoothly for the last couple of years, but a few days back when running it it has started freezing at about 30 000 objects checked and doesn't finish and at freezing point reports 0 objecys found. Subsequently, I am without anty spy protection.
I unistalled and reinstalled to no effect.
Any ideas of what is to be done? :tazz:
